Default Bodyless chassis , Formula toyota design(not tube)

Ive always wanted to make a scale 1.9 f-toy but I have no work area or skills to do any brazing.
I was looking at some comp rigs that run the bodiless tvp chassis, and thought maybe i could make a f-toy style one for my scale rig.
drew it up in sketchup to get an idea of what it would look like.
I think it looks decent , but im not sure that the roof bars would hold up.
The material I want to use is of derlin, mabey 1/8'' thick?
any ideas on thickness to get enough strength ?
heres some pics:

I've been playing with this ideal my self for a jeep. I think 1/8 would be fine, just add a little material here and there around your holes.

Looks good.

Nice chasis Dude.

I am drawing something like that to make it in 6mm. technyl. For your chasis I have some ideas:

- Can you make an "X" frame to cut, so you can use bolts to fix it making a diagonal reinforsment, just behind the tranny area? It will give more strengh to the chasis.

- the front area will allow a lipo pack or a Nicd Battery? It seems to be a little small for the second one.

The rest looks awesome!

the area im most concerned about is the front roof area.
all the bars are 1/8'' material and 1/4'' wide .

I have to make the chassis as wide as possible without the tires rubbing, ( in order to get a semi scale look to it, sense it wont have fenders and stuff covering the tires like a real f-toy would be like)
so i figure around 3-3.5 inches wide which will be plenty of room for a the battery I will be using Which is just your normal axle sub-c split battery pack.
In a side by side configuration like in this pic:
(the little support bars are going to be bigger, and im going to make some of the areas around bolts bigger
wb is at 11.5''
