What lube/oil/grease do you use for your rig?

Hey guys just after some info on what you guys use on your rig?

Mines an axial scx10

I use team losi 30,00wt diff oil inside my diff gears..

I use Highspeed car grease outside my diff gears.. I pack the whole diff with it..Been running for 3months now seems good..

For my bearings, screws, cvs, dogbones, driveshafts etc etc..I use protecta lube
http://www.pacificrimdistributors.com.au/protecta.htm
I also spray a drop on my motor on both sides..

So what do you guys use?

I use Rocksmith Gear Jelly on any of my metal gears and Tamiya white lube on my rigs with plastic gears. For shocks I use Associated Synthetic shock oil and for diffs I use OFNA Diff lube.

I use Losi shock oil in my shocks, Associated clear and black lubes for the diffs. I also have used CRC engine assembly lube (I had a large tube ) I think it is the same stuff as Associated Black lube. Then I pack it all with water-resistance Marine grease . So I guess that cancels it all out.

I use vanquish star lube in the berg cases and Losi shock oil in the....well shocks

Ktbone 07-30-2010 08:41 AM

Pedro's Syn-Lube and Tri-Flo.

Both hold up very well and are easy to find.

Offroader5 07-30-2010 08:46 AM

I use Mobile 1 synthetic gear lube (bearing grease) for trans/diff/tcase gears.

Shocks get whatever oil I have. I think I've got some Losi, Axial, Associated, Ofna, Mugen.

Some of the "shock" oils I use are actually light weighted diff oil...to get some heavy weighted shock oil. :)

i use lucas ball bearing grease in my diffs, and trannies.

10-20wt oil in my shocks with losi gold springs

I used to use gear jelly but now just use red silicone grease. Haven't seen much/any difference? :???: For shock oil what ever brand that's cheapest & available. Again can't tell a difference? :???: Just don't use automotive petroleum based products. They can mess the plastic up! Oh and tri flo is one of my favorite things! Great in cvds/300s!

One other thing I use is White Lighting. It is a type of dry lube for bicycle chains, I use it on CVDs and pinion and spur gears.

Superfubario 07-31-2010 02:59 PM

Losi shock oils and "Lucas Red and Tacky 2" for gears.

Planespotter 07-31-2010 03:30 PM

Is it safe to use white lithium grease? That is what the guys at my LHS recommend.

gymjunkie23 09-20-2010 02:48 AM

I used castrol marine lithium grease on my scx10 packed the whole diff full and dipped all my bearings now it's smooth and I can do heaps of water crossings:-)

Terranaut 09-20-2010 08:30 AM

Castrol LM lithium. About $5.00 / liter so you can use it with abandon, fill gearboxes and diffs till it squeezes out. It's almost too good for my rig! :ror:

Shock oil is the cheapest I can find, as long as it's weighted. It's only gonna leak out, get spilled on the rocks or thrown out when I change the weight. Why waste money on a branded product?

Cheers.

My R2D has been going through gear sets every 20th battery or so.

It's set up with a 3S lipo, Sidewinder, & a HH 35T Torquemaster

I've been using some blue Mobil grease (not sure of the name), but I think it is too thin.

Her's hoping that Gearjelly will solve this issue!
