| Independent suspension fun crawler
Jip, call me crazy, but I've built the bully the berg and upgraded the axial and repaired the Losi. A small project of mine that layed dormant for a while is my Tamiya Dualhunter I modified some time ago into something I can only call a dirt crawler. It has one purpose in mind, to have as much fun as possible. I don't like running my crawlers through dirt, mud and beach sand. I use 'em for rocks, that's it. The Tamiya's nice, but I'm looking for something similar running a single motor, definately single battery, with more adjustment possibilities (I'll be swopping esc, motors and re-adjust settings often until I have the perfect combination). I want to end up with something that is not the best at anything, but able to do everything well. Reason I don't want fixed axles is handling. The truck must be able to handle fairly well at maximum speeds of about 25Mph, yet still have low speed control. My first quest, find the perfect chassis. Jang (poster on youtube) built something similar to what I have in mind using a Traxxas slash 4x4 chassis, but i.m.h.o. that limits your possibilities for future adjustments to shocks, tyres, esc and motor. The Tamiya is even more limiting since the gearbox isn't strong enough, thus your motor choices are very limited. Any suggestions of chassis options I can look at??? |

Here are some that have been built using custom chassis and slash 4X4 and Summit parts. They use straight rear axles, but I have built one with Slash 4X4 front and rear suspension, see pic. 2010 Dorkstar Hybrid "Project Mayhem" Harley's Ultra4400 now w/ Axial Ripsaws! I'd like to see a build on this too! I'll get in touch with the owner and see when he might do one. It's been done for a while now, but has been kept under wraps. Should be seeing something about this one soon I hope. I can tell you it is a one off custom chassis built with 3/16" solid rod, TIG welded. Under the cab hides a full cage, Summit trans and brushless system. And runs modified Slash 4X4 front and rear suspension. |

I hope to see it soon Mr. Tyler Durden. Indy is what inspired me to build Mayhem. Shon "R2J" is the chassis master | |

That's really cool! I'm currently collecting parts to build something similar. It'll be an IFS Tacoma truggy. |

Thanks!!! This is awesome. I know my first attempt will not even come close to these beasts, but it's still a hell-of-a-lot 'o FUN!!! Pity my wife doesn't understand me spending more on parts than on cars. |

Thanks! I've been shipped back to South Africa to start up and run a new assignment, everything (rigs and parts definately) packed up and ready to go. Been ording the stuff I thought I'll need like crazy the last few months, but I already realize there's parts I forgot to order. Will give me a few months of research waiting for my stuff to arrive though. Interesting doing the inventory for the insurance (R/C chassis parts tray = $499, R/C small parts and screws = $499, tranny parts tray, electronic connectors tray...) Can't believe I never ordered a slash 4x4!!! Should have posted here months ago! @#%$it! Guess I'll just have to be creative with what I've got and able to find down South.
