Child's Maisto Crawler My buddy just bought the maisto crawler from walmart for his 3yr old son. He wants to know if it's possible to change it from running on 6aa batteries to a rechargeable battery pack? Thanks |
The easiest way will be to purchase some rechargeable AA batteries. The more complicated method will involve taking it apart and wiring it to accept another style pack. |
I have one too, I wish never bought it, but, I took it appart and you COULD solder a conector onto it, and run it on a custom made 6 cell AA pack, but just buy some rechargable batterys. the batterys last forever anyway, i've had mine like 2-3 weeks and still on the 1st 6 cells. |
I have never seen one of those. |

Here is a pic of the 9.6v battery mod. it really livens it up, and it's rechargeable. Way more power, but more wheel speed to. Makes it harder to control, but way more fun and way more ability http://images.rcuniverse.com/forum/u...27/Jh15734.jpg |
It will also take a 1300 mah 2s lipo w/ no problem...."thumbsup", just a little soldering and a trimming of the tabs in the battery compartment. |

Hopefully your GF and/or wife states the same thing!"thumbsup""thumbsup" |
I use a Tenergy 2000 mah 9.6 and it works great. |
I wouldn't be so hard on these things... you can buy one for less then a set of decent 2.2 tires! I scored and bought 2 of them from walmart on clearance for $7 a piece. Great for my daughter to learn rc control because they are slow. Wont climb much and dont even think of taking them to the rocks, but great learner rigs. Now, when my daughter has a friend over or we go camping I take the pair and her and a friend can drive them and I dont worry about them breaking a much more expensive rig. |
my oldest son has a blue one we converted to run on a 7.2 stick pack, more speed but not enough torque, your lines gotta be perfect or it just sits there doing nothing(clodstall?) built a al skidplate battery cover to make up for the bigger pack and to keep yhe links on it. keept my kids off my honcho for a bit, till i cut the shocks up for the springs, very soft, use them in the back of my rig with the little spacer and the short spring from axial. |
