Default Best brushed motor for Summit trans

Trying to stay away from brushless with this as I want it to remain a cawler first, and have some zip second. What BRUSHED motor are you guys running with good success on your summit transmission?

Will be using 3s, maybe 4s.

This is not a TTC rig build... I hate mud.

I'm gonna have some 14t Pullers on Monday. That would be a good match unless you want something smaller.

I'm not limited to space per-say... I'll have to see if I can get the money together by then to pick one up though. Wouldn't be a bad idea to have one just laying around though.

Any other suggestions?

If you are looking for zip, a nice 550 or 540 motor is pretty much the other choice unless you want to get a cheap 700 or something. I don't think a 700 is going to be needed unless you plan to run past 25mph a lot.

A 35t handwound 540 would be my next choice, with a silver can on 4s as the budget call.

Glad you were here John. That's pretty much what I was expecting, just looking for a general consensus, but your input is more than enough for me.

Most guys swap out the stock ones for a Dewalt 12V.

I built a formula off road style truck and used the summit 2 speed. I wanted to get the most I could out of the setup so I wanted brushed also. I hated the cogging in first that the brushless setups give. I tries a lot of different brushed setups and found only one true winner for me. I am running a Kershaw 650s and it rocks! I also opted to switch out to 48p gears to get me a more usable ratio. I run 4 and 5s through it and it never comes up short. It has the torque to launch brutally hard and the top end is ballistic for a crawler based vehicle. It has such strong pull that with 5ft of run up I can skim water and pull wheelies while driving on water. I honestly wish more people would try these out as an option for 2 speed conversions as the just cant be beat if space allows. The pullers are nice also but a little lacking in speed and run real hot for me.
