They have been out for awhile. You can find them in Walmarts and the like. They are just cheap shit, you get what you pay for. Probably fun enough for a kid to run into a rock for a little while.

Not sure if your familiar with Jang but i love to check out his reviews of trucks...probly did the one on rcmania. But for the last guy that posted here is a video about "Toy Grade RC"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49KE4OZVnQ8

from what i saw it would be great for a small child.

I thought about picking one of these up for the little one actually.
But the video from the OP made me laugh.
I thought crawlers crawled over rocks, not intentionally avoided them haha

yeah, far from impressive, but great for a kid to bash around for 30 bucks.

I fried the electronics with a 2s lip in one I bought my kid, so I put in a cheap esc and rx I had laying round, and also mounted up a standard steering servo. With a a small lexan bronco body, 2s and some cut/shut panther cobras on it, it climbs half descent. I want to take the motors out and see if I can size up something better becaues it clod stalls real bad.

Why not a maxstone 16 for $40 more then you have something he can build upon.

youll be wasting money.. yea it costs abit more.. but exceeds parts are weak, so youll be on your bench rather than playing around i bet.

for a kid, id highly reccomend it. once he gets around 10-12 or older, id slam down some cash for a ax-10 or something with high 3rd party parts support like Vanquish etc..

For twice the price one can get HSP 1/18 crawler that's better quality(not the best though) and it's 2.4Gig.

Several guys here have Maxstones & there are a few threads for them. Don't go by what is said by people who don't own them. Do some research into them & see if they'll work for your kid.

Got one for my 4yr old at christmas, put a decent set of NiMh rechargeables 3000mah in it and he gets around 2 hours before they go flat, took the stock truck body off and mounted a Caddy Escalade he had painted on it - looks half decent for the money £27 in the UK - but Maisto now have a new revised 6 volt rechargeable version out now complete with charger and pack for the same money.

Ive bought quite a couple of Maisto cars for my son. Now 9.
All of them had rechargable AA in the car. (less than 1000mAh)
With a better battery these cars would give most children fun they would never get else where.

Got one too for my 4 year son, put some 2s lipo 800mah 15c on it, and have a very decent performance...well, great performance for what you pay...
He is very happy and made more than 20 hours with it. Only I had to disassembly rear axle to lube it...inside have plastic bushes... some grease and now its like new...
