Not for long....mine did it a few times and then I pulled it apart to see if the glue on the metal part came loose, nope. Half of the gear was stripped and a few teeth were gone.

so after doing some searching i take it shimming the outer part of thaaxle to keep the axle from walking back and forth and bending the tabs down on the metal "dog" will fix the problem ?

ok i shimmed the yellow gear on the shaft to try to get some of the wobble out,it did little to help that,i think what needs to be done there is some type of sleeve or bushing/bearing. i then glued the yellow housing to the metal part.

after that dries i will see about the axle alignment but i think thats all in the wobble of the yellow gear.

knock on wood, i've yet to hear bad axle noises.

i'm running 2.2s, which i have not glued to the rims. they only seem to slip (poor man's clutch?) under the most severe of conditions, which maybe is helping keep my gears alive. i've only lost a bead a few times, and usually only after a tumble. every time i read an axle issue thread, i talk myself out of gluing them once again...at least until nylint makes replaceable gear sets for these things.

When my axle started clicking I shimed the axle shaft to keep it from wandering side to side causing the gears to line up by only a half a tooth. This lined the gears up much better and then I used the tape method to push the motor harder against the gears. If you need I can take pics.

Ypu don't actually put tape on the motor, rather on the gear boxes where they sit in the case to help push the gear box more towards the axle gears and take away any slop. I'll post some pics later tonight.
