tranny extension?

has anyone ever made one?

ive got a t-case under the floor, that i need a extension on so i dont have to hack the floor .

has a vendor ever made one, or anyone ever made a one off?

basically i need a straight shaft the slides over the t-case input shaft thats extends it forward 1.5" that i can then put the driveshaft on the end of.

I had a couple made for the HPI GRU basically same idea but I also increased the size of the shaft with it.. was no where near that length.

couldn't you just use a drive shaft laid flat and then a maxx knuckle as a carrier bearing, then attach the other drive shaft to that? or is the clearance to tight for that?

I think with a 1.5 extension you will be adding allot of load to the bearings in the tcase..

i've had this idea in my head a while, what about a "drill bit extension" I don't know what diameters they come in, but you could cut it to whatever length you need, and I dont imagine them being to expensive, and I bet all hardware stores have them

a 1" might do me. or maybe i could use two 1" on one the t-case, and one on the tranny under the hood (tilts down)

yeah there barely room for the shaft under the floor.

fred. thats pretty intresting, and sort of exactly what i need. never hear of those.

this might work
all id need is another 5mm shaft.

Got any TLT dogbones and cups?

sloppy 12-31-2010 10:15 PM

1/4" should slide right over the 5mm shaft this is a hex set up but I dont really think it would throw anything off. I think fred has got the right idea.. worst case you drill out the hex and stick a brass bushing in there to take up the slop..

Stang Killa I made this for my Honcho and it has held up to a 23 turn on a 3cell just fine. Shoot me a PM with some dimensions of what you want and I'll build you a couple, these are EZ for me.
