Default Turning radius / steering ?

Just finished up a new TLT build and have a question about my turning radius.
Wheelbase is 11 1/2 inches, TLT axles, narrowed wheels with Moabs, Hitec 645 servo, locked diffs. At rest the servo cannot turn the wheels to full lock and while driving forward wheels seem to barely turn. If I drive in reverse they swing to full lock with no problem and turning circle is very good.

Only way it seems to turn well while driving forward is if I get strong bite on outside wheel, the inside tire lifts and steering immediately goes full lock with great turning. Any idea why it won't turn with all 4 wheels on the ground?

FYI I also tried a Hitec 615MG servo with similar results.

Doug

Some pics might help shed a little light on the problem. It could have to do with your link setup. What chassis are you using?

Also, what speed control ya using? If you don't have enough voltage or amps at your BEC you will have low steering power.

I still run a few old 615MG's on my clods and they have NO problem turning the wheels. Are you running a servo saver?

If you lift the truck off the ground and try and turn the wheels, does it go to full lock or does it still only turn partailly.

Sorry no photios. Speed contriol is a Novak 610-HRV and am using a Kimbrough servo saver. Tie rods are mounted on top of the spindles.
Wheels will swing about 1/2 total arc sitting on the ground, when lifted in the air immediately swing full.

There's your problem. The 610HRV only has a 0.5A BEC. Get yourself a receiver pack and you'll be good to go.

If the swing to full when they have no load on them that just means your servo isnt strong enought to push them. And if microgoat is right on the BEC of your ESC, then eiather get one with a higher BEC or get a reciever pack and your done.

Also, is the kimborough servo saver you're running the gas/truck hi torque one? or just the standard? If it is only the standard, the spring will be too weak and it will just strech the spring instead of turning the wheels when there is some resistance.
