Default torsen center diff for tmaxx

now that i have your attention, has anyone ever made or tried some sort of limited slip center diff? ive noticed that on alot of rigs when you approach a nearly vertical rock that the rear tires dig in and flip the crawler over, would there be a way to integrate something that allowed the rear wheels to partially slip like a regular diff so that it wont roll ? or would the lack of direct power to the wheels negate any postive effects this could have?

A Maxx into a Crawler? What a joke. I'd rather turn a 'Pede into 4wd and make that a crawler.

i was more looking for something adjustable than just a motor stalling out like in a clod.

Lock-Snot in front and rear diffs is what you want. Old school but works killer. Stays locked but under hard conditions it will allow very slight slippage to happen. I ran the stuff in my TLT diffs and NEVER broke anything. Had it in my Maxx but decided to go full spool F/R.

I still have some Moose Doo around here somewhere.... I can't remember if it's version #1 or version #2.

that would work for a left to right lim slip i was looking for a front to back. but the shaft in the transmisson is solid. i was wondering if you could use a ball diff like in a touring car in the center. id have to custom make it all but i was wondering if anyone ever tried it.

search rear wheel disconnect or pm 4thewkn, he has the plans to make a disconnect controlled by a servo that will disconnect the drive shaft to the reaers so only the fronts are pulling.

You could run a center diff your your rig if you wanted to. Try a ofna torsen diff. and then go get yourself some silicone fluids. like 10k, 20k, 30k, ~ 100k. I would think you would want like 80k to start with. This in theory would work. it would allow your front tires to turn before your rears once you get the power through the 4 spider gear diff and through liquid. You could also try wheel bearing grease that stuff is higher than 100k oil.

The problem would be mounting it up. You are pretty much limited to a 52t spur. and then you would need something very powerfull to turn it. like a fiago brushless powered by 2 big lipo packs. if you used a GD600 and you could keep it in one peice with that fiago then once again in theory it might work. It would be killer to see. But the fiago brushless and esc will set you back a cool 700 easy and the diff alone is like 90bucks ( I know I have 3 of them in my truggy )

A much easier way to do this, and I hate clods, but with a clod you could run a taller pinion in the front and a lower one in the rear, it would drag the rear wheels a little bit on level ground, but when your trying to crawl up something the front would be going faster than the rear for every revolution of the motor. so that would do it and it would be cheaper, but it would be a clod, and not very original.

Good luck man!

the only problem with a torsen is that it biases torque to the wheels that grip, thats not what a shafty needs, it needs to allow the wheels that grip to slip sightly and transfer all the power to the other wheels, we almost need a regular open diff...
