I am guessing you guys threw the car in a suitcase and had it as a carry-on instead of being the "one small item" they let you also carry on? I think I am still going to ship the car this time for the second trip due to the fact that I am in Florida 17 days and a checked bag costs as much as shipping the car but for a small trip it is a good idea.

Some of the guys on here said batteries are fine in the carry on as long as you tape up the plug.

I always tape the ends of the batteries up and put them in my lipo sack, and they haven't even questioned me about the batteries

Bump! What about International flights? I'm flying to Cabo this week and would like to take my wraith. |

International or domestic pretty much makes no difference going through airport security. I did remove the tires from the wheels in preparation of the outbound trip, so that the customs officers (in Iceland) could inspect my wheel weights more easily if required, since I'd arrive very late at night and wanted everything to go smooth. As it turned out they didn't check my luggage, and on the return trip I left the tires mounted. |

I think one thing can be determined from all this: Make sure your car is clean You have everything neat and tidy (they just like that in general) Be nice to your security people And put your batteries into a fireproof bag! I ended up flying to Colorado with my mini crawler for a family wedding (glad i brought it even though it didn't crawl much!) and had no issues with security. Sure this was about 6+ months ago but i taped over all the battery connectors and put them into my Lipo bag. Cleaned the car off. Took the batteries out of the transmitter (those were in the LIPO bag too in a separate bag) and just brought along a tire wrench. I had tools but since I flew Southwest I put those into my check-bag and all was well in the end. Now flying with my Tri-Copter and its support gear is another story I think |
