To shorten or not to shorten??
 

I recently bought a hard body online that I had intended to put on my honcho. It showed up today and like I was worried about, it came and had a smaller wheel base than expected. 11" to be exact. I had put some shorter links on my honcho that made the wheelbase 11.5 but it still looks goofy. Honestly Im not sure if I want to go any shorter and thinking about ditching the body or saving it for my cc01. (Once that gets here, if itll work).

What are the cons to shortening a wheelbase? Any pro's? Any pointers/suggestions would be appriciated.

Shorter wheel base will decrease your turning radius which comes in handy. I run 12.5 wheel base and am able to crawl some things that others with shorter wheel base have problems with, but they can trun inside of my turn. It's a toss up. Really I would look at what your crawling on to determine if the shorter wheel base would be a hinderence or benifit.

Too many variable to say for sure, but a few general tips:

With a shorter WB you can run smaller tires for a lower CG and still maintain a decent breakover angle.

Better turning radius.

You usually have to watch your driveshaft angles a lot more with a short WB.

I second _microgoat_'s thoughts on this. Simply shortening your links and/or link position is a great way to f-up your driveshafts/trans/axles. What kind of truck body is it? Can IT be stretched a 1/2" or so?

if your going for a scaler, its best (I think) to match your body and make it look real

besides, 1/4" on either side....probably wont mess you up that bad.
