| Gearing question???
Is it possible to make the rear wheels spin slower than the front? If so would this even be helpfull or is this a bad idea? It seems it would for climbing and decending hills. Im not talking about dig. I dont want either to lock just roll slower. I think on an moa you could just change the pinion gears so theyre different but on a shafty would this be possible? Is there a way to program an esc to do that? Thanks |

Yea its possible. And it helps climb better. I have overdrive gears in the front and underdrive in the rear axle. I like it a lot. What rig are you trying to do this on?

on the losi cc the way to do it is run the new hd gears in the front since they have a 21:1 ratio over the stock 25:1 ratio. search in the losi section and you will find a thread on it.

Sweet. Is it worth doing? I mean does it make a big difference? I imagine it wears the rear tires out quicker than the fronts.

Other way around. You tend to wear out fronts quicker and they are rotating faster than the rears. |

You front wear because they are turning faster, it doesnt actually 'drag' the rear. It is worth doing, better on climbs, smaller turning circle and i found that side hills are better as well (with an axial, Losi is a different kettle of fish) Down hill there wont be much change. Best way to find out is suck it & see. |

I was just going to start a new thread with this question and it looks like it is already hear. Is it better to go 1 up in front and 1 down in the rear ?or 2 up in front and leave the rear stock? would that be the same? |

A lower gearing will help reduce torque twist so that is many times a good idea on a shafty. On an MOA an lower gear ratio can help reduce start up stall and such. There are many different factors. | ||

i get your point, lets say one tooth up or down not a available gear ratio. or a stock ax-10 and talk available gears |
