Tamiya Gear Head Gear reduction ???
 
I put this here becasue it seems like it could work pretty good for any crawler...

This is the Gear Head Motor 380K75 & Pin Spike Tire Set
from the Tamiya Robomaterial Series.
Suitable for Ages 12 & Older.

FEATURES: Designed for use in building competition-ready robots.
Powerful, compact Type 380 gear head motors.
The high torque motors, with gear of 75:1, can be used with
a DC7.2V power source.
Mounted 1:10 scale monster pin spike tires that are ideal
for traversing rough terrain.

380 size motor and a gear reduction... seems like we should be able to get longer run times and less weight. Just a thought.
