Default Heads up!! You canNOT shorten Junfac driveshafts!

I cut down my Junfac driveshaft today to go from my tranny to my transfer case thinking that it was D-splined all the way through the outter shaft.... WELL ITS NOT!! It was only D-shaped for the first 1/4" or so then it just went to a full open circle inside.

So I found this out after cutting off the 1" needed to fit. So just trying to warn anyone looking at trying to shorten a Junfac. I hope my LHS has something that will work for me thats not plastic!

I'll give ya $10 for it.

If it were me I'd cut an extra 1/4" off then cut the 1/4" off with the "D" in it and weld the two pieces you need together.

There should be plenty of "D" on the male end, if not that's an easy fix. It's the female part that's the problem.

Oh and thats the case here! The male side is fine. The female side is just a loose open hole now that i could slide anything into. It used to be nice and tight... The only fix here would to weld the 1/4" of the D-shaped female to the end... I dont weld or have access so Im still just goin to hopefully buy something that I can make work

$10 bucks is a deal at this point for me... but I stripped it down and decided it would be nice to have a couple of the universal joints on hand for extras..

Thats funny rite there and to top it off, your location. SL,UT

Anyway, I have a female half that I'm not useing. The set screw would not bite into the Robinson Racing hardnd output/diff lock I put in the trans so I ended up loseing the male half of the shaft and the female half's not doing me any good by itself and I've already replaced it with MIP shafts.
So it's yours if ya need it.

Thanks for the heads up, I was thinking my driveshaft might be to long once I install a dig and was thinking "no problem I'll just shorten it up".

I find it hard to believe Junfac would do a compound mold so only a bit of the "outer end" has the correct shape.
Not saying anyone is wrong, but that mold drives up the cost which is major for a limited market.......
"Cheap" would be to have the "D" extend all the way through the tube.......

MIP's are the same way. The splined portion of the female end is only the first .500 or so.

That's too bad you think that as they work rather well. Been running them on my son's SCX10 for almost a year.

I agree Ive ran them a few time on my old truck and never had an issue... i havent noticed any issues with the pins either. And now that I have my buddy who is a welder for a living help me out that junfac shaft I cut into will end up working just great!
