Default Could someone explain this ad?

I saw an ad in Car Action for a brushless crawler motor that said " It has the feel of a brushed motor " . If you wanted the feel of a brushed motor then why not use one? - Newbie Ni-Cad Worrior.

Brushless motors require less maintenance. No brushes to wear out.

Brushless are more efficient, have more controllable torque, and when sensored properly they can be controlled very precisely. No real maintenance other than bearings. No cogging is what they are referring to in the ad.

I like the sound they make as opposed to brushed in my planes. Not much difference in the crawlers but a bit quieter.

I think they are saying it gives you the low speed control of a brush less but the benefit of low maintenance and longer run time (efficiency) of a brush less motor. Brushed motors have had better control when doing very slow speed crawling as brushless motors often seem like they are more of an on/off motor to an extent. A brushed motor can crawl very slow and not bog where as a brushless would often stutter and not move. As designs improve the brushless motors may be able to do this as well.

brushless motors in my use have always given much better run time for the same power and due to their type do not need maintenance to the comms and replacing brushes.

Yes, I believe they mean that the Brushless motor advertised, has the "feel" of a Brushed motor, no cogging, or jerky movement (stutter) at slow speed.
The big difference between sensorless and sensored brushless motors, is the smooth operation at low rev's.
