i live at the base of a mountain with a gravel pit at the bottom so i can walk there and crawl and drink beer all day and then walk home. i also have a course in the field that i can crawl on anytime i want. plus between the house and the mountain is a little creek that dries up every year so i can crawl in that too. |

I've got a test and tune area in my back yard. I have a decent practice area 5 minutes away One of the finest RC crawling areas in the country at Taylors Falls Mn. about an hour. We're very lucky in the Twin City area. Last edited by Stormin2u; 08-24-2011 at 11:25 AM. |

Not very far.I built a spot in my backyard to test and tune, but it's actually pretty fun. And the better spots are 40-60 minutes from my house. I'd say they're worth the drive. |

Nice work Noob, looks like you've been working on your scale garden some since you last posted pics of it. Got any detail shots? Is the pole barn weather proof? Too bad ther'se not a forum to post your build in...

The best spots are about 20-30 min away, but we have spots everywhere about mid summer when all the creeks dry up. |

Closest spots for me are 3 hrs away. And those spots are basically just a pile of field stones. Indiana fawkin sucks...... No rocks anywhere.

Fixed it for you Yes I am bored today. Had to take the day off work to take care of my kitty that just came out of surgery. Hence the lame attempt, but funny to me mod with "Paint" Last edited by Rook82; 08-24-2011 at 03:28 PM. | |

I have a small area outside my house for basic testing. Then a killer man made area is a 15 minute drive. Then there is 4 nice natural areas within an hour. Then one of the best crawl spots EVAR is 1 1/2 hours away. (Disney, Oklahoma) |

Deception Pass State Park is 9 miles from my house. I have 3 top notch locations within 20 min drive. Cap Sante, anacortes WA and MT. Erie Wa. I usually get visited by Seals Passing by which always makes you smile. |

My favorite place is the G-spot. Only a mile from my house. Most of the other comp sites are 10 to 15 minutes away. |

A five minute drive for the closest spot and it is pretty good, but living on the coast means I have PLENTY of places to go within 20 minutes maximum.

I have a couple small areas at home with ledge but once the weeds/grass kick in I throw in the towel. There's a small but great ledge formation in a gravel pit about 2 minutes down the road that's perfect for testing crawler climbing and sidehilling. About 10 minutes away is a very large flood control resevoir/dam whatever you'd like to call it, this is a small portion of it that I hit the most. It's a blast for scalers, it's not all randomly piled up boulders, many areas of dirt and small rock formations. A half hour away is the mouth of a deep gorge with bedrock carved out by the river.. It's amazing for scalers, and some spots good for crawlers. A half hour in the opposite direction brings me to a mecca of river bedrock that much is hard to get to, and it's in constant danger of flooding due to a hydroelectric power station constantly changing the water flow levels, but a few spots are close enough to parking to make it worth it, this is the best shot I have of one small vertical formation. |
