can you weld on the rc4wd black widow axle?

as the title says, can you weld a rc4wd black widow straight axle?

If the aluminum is 6061 or similar then yes. However, aluminum is tricky to weld and you have to have the right equipment and setup.

You can weld any metal with the right process and equipment. But something like that I would think the heat shrink would warp it to an unusable state. Unless maybe you could find a way to build a jig to hold it till it cools.

I have never seen one in person. But could you slide a solid steel rod all the way though it?
