Servo Guards

Are servo guards worth it or do they help to over-heat it?

RIG_RIDER 10-08-2011 06:15 PM

How would adding an aluminum heat sink, that protects, hurt?

You can make your own, I do.

I think they are worth it. Unfortunately my rigs spend some time upside down, and I don't like expensive servos taking direct hits. Never noticed any overheating issues with high powered servos.

I use one on my XR10 and it has helped keep the abuse off the servo and it doesnt heat up at all. I think they are a good investment regardless.

Which one on the market do you guys recommended?

I won a Chaotic Crawlers drawing for one of these and they are the lightest I've seen.

I personally think that vanquish or chaotic crawlers are the best and I have used both. They are both great though "thumbsup"

I use a Rowdy Racing one and fist time out with the xr got a big nic in the guard and not my 7950. I've seen a high end servo with no guard and oh my beat to hell

Looks like ill be stealing the servo guard off the tmaxx this weekend. Been thinking that it would be cool to build a custom bent bar setup that comes off the axles. Just dont know how to make it strong enough.

Ok so I'm running a futaba 9157 servo on my xr10 an I'm looking for a guard that will fit properly. I tried the vanquish guard an non of the holes line up at all.. It seem as if my servo is a little bigger that the hightech ones. I can't find one anywhere :( . Any help would be awesome. Thanks

You might try one of these from Rowdy. He makes 'em right or left notch and they just stick on with the supplied two sided tape.

Re: Servo Guards

Its a fad... Servo cases are cheap.. The only reason I would run one is to for the clamping support to the servo ears..
