Default Mad Scientist IFS-SCX10 Transplant Surgery

Just wanted to post up what me and highlandcrawler were able to achieve on the IFS that can bolt on to a scx10 chassis and show it could be done simply and cheap

Edit: the title does seem a bit pokey lol so i apologize for that, didnt mean to make sound like that

I'm impressed you were able to do all that with a 2mm hex wrench

Nice and with BTA steering, just not sure about the shocks.
Look's good interested to hear how it crawls.

you'd have to ask whoever built that. No way it was him.

Yes I made all if this with just a 2mm hex wrench........ Lol just kidding I didn't, highlandcrawler did, he contacted me and had told me he knew it wasn't as difficult as what everyone else was saying because he had done something similar with a build. Him and I talked and he could see it was pretty much straight forward and started building.
It is all direct bolt on, there is no need for drilling because it uses stock holes. It is solid and strong and there is no link catching, there is full upward and downward travel.

We need more info, what was fabbed up to do this, what parts were used (donor vehicle), better pictures of the stance as well would be nice.
I like the idea a lot for scaleness for sure.

The slash is only really steerable from the rear of the shock tower so "bta is a must. Ive always thought Losi shocks work really nice. I like the threaded body and nitride shafts. They are much nicer than the plastic bodied grey ones on the stock slash 4x4

I felt kinda bad for the guy with the beating he was taking in his other thread lol. He was just having problem conveying what he was trying to achieve. This setup lets him go from a stock running honcho for example and within a hour and no mods to anything he can have the slash 4x4 front under it for a different kind of driving. Think crawl all week then bolt on the ifs and brushless and hit the dunes for the weekend kind of thing

All the parts used are pictured above. It will be a simple bolt on deal for him with no mods to either piece. He is bolting a slash 4x4 front end to a scx10 frame. I'm not sure how scale looking you could get it to be with the ifs on it but the general idea and feel of ifs would be there. the stance is all determined by arm length and shocks used. You can have the a arms flat or pointed like a triangle depending on what you chose. These pics are reposts of dmeoniods but a little larger for you. Keep in mind the body pictured belongs to me and my normal axed scaler and is not intended to fit or work really with this. I did work for testing though when I drove it.

Ya I can't thank you enough highlandcrawler, when everyone else was bashing saying it was to hard and to expensive, you saw it was simple just like me,
To violator: if you ever read this, I would like to show you that this isn't some stupid idea that anyone can just think of. so you can take your car that fly's and transforms in to a brief case idea and shove it! Lol but to everyone else, just got to think outside the box.

well good for you, hats off to highlandcrawler. but do ya think that poking and jabbing is a nice way to do it.

Now. I see there is some fab work in there.

The question is
1. How practicle is it. I would like to see it from underneath
2. how well does it work?

Sorry if it seemed like I was poking and jabbing, I wasn't. the only one I'd do that to is violator, everyone else including you only voiced a opinion and concerns which is fine but he was mocking me and I don't put up with that.
And the fab work is little, highlandcrawler was persistent at keeping me updated and showing the mock up and all that.
From the pics he's showing and what I've seen, the skid for the ifs should be at the same level as the skid on the chassis I believe.
He says it's solid, he was testing it out with a 4s mamba max pro and it was solid and since I'm only doing 3s I think I'm good lol

Ya the hahahahah title could make it seem a little pokey. I tried to keep the fab work simple as possible for it. i didnt take a great pic of the bottom but have a couple I can post. It ran surprisingly well Considering what it is. I have a hybrid like your tiny car and to my surprise it worked as good or better. Not sure if it is because it is a lot lighter without all the tube work or what but it got some for sure. I raced it around my track and took some small doubles with it when it was together and it was pretty stable and didn't slap on landing.

Tapatalk won't allow me to change the thread title so I just edited the post.
When I typed it I was thinking and hearing like a mad scientist laugh would sound like, so no poking just do think of a mad or crazy scientist laughing and you see why I typed it that way lol.
Highlandcrawler, did you get the money yet?

this is an impressive bit of garage tech engineering I'd like to see the same treatment for the rear axle...it'd make for a nice high speed desert rig/crawler.

And that is one of the many builds I had talked to him about that this could make more possible, for price, I'd say ask him. The price I paid seems reasonable but I don't know if he'll change it.

Haven't figured that out yet lol maybe a 1/6 because I don't think any 1/10 bodies will fit over the slash front other than if I cut up a short course body
