| 1:5 scale, ultimate tube project..
Well I have decided that the time has come to tackle a tuber. So I collected a few parts and have a doner truck. No5 (my indie truck) will be the source and some new stuff. The mission is to build a tuber, but this tuber is to be 1:5 scale of the 1:1 crawler I am currently building. I will also build solid axles (with a secret ingredient). Kongs - cut and narrowed 8"x3" (40"x15") 1:8 buggie diff centres 3:1 1:8 buggie steering knuckles Revo sharfts Maxx tranny - locked, titanium kit. Super rooster Mag mayhem + inline 3:1 gear box 3600 sony cell 2x 1:4 scale servos LiPo steering batteries 3 channel, Full independent, Rtc rear, controller. Savage shocks Maxx wide arm uni axles. Big 1:8 buggie rod ends and other assorted goddies. These are approximate measurements.... W/B to be 21", but this may be restricted by the sharfts.. Body size - 25"long x 10"wide overall - 29"x 16.5" Just need the gas, tube and to scale down my plans. This is my chrissy holiday project, and my first tuber. So what do you think???? |

Sounds cool! The big stuff is lots of fun, and this IS the place for custom stuff. Now, as for you SR5: Your significant other determines what you do with RC stuff??? ??? My wife doesn't even so much as look at the stuff, let alone ask about it! She already knows that she doesn't want to know!!!!

I was doing well with buying and selling so many RC toys that my fiance couldnt keep up with what I was doing or how much I was spending or making on stuff. I have slowed down in my changing collection though which has allowed her to catch up with what I am doing - I need to just bring home a bunch of projects to confuse her again .

ok, well back on subject, i think it is a cool idea, i thought it is a cool idea to go big. ive thought about it before but my buget is not big enuf. but thie things i came up with are use a 3horse brigs n straton ( or something like it) pinion gears from a angle grinder or a shaft driven 4 wheeler for steering, use a small air tank then pnumatic (sp*) ram for steering that way you would only have to use a servo to flip a switch instead of steer humongo tires, but all of these sound a lot too big for your truck you have planned o well, someone might use these ideas hope u do good on ur project neway |

The buggie diffs are plenty strong Dave. I have been running them in No5 for ages and I have bent 4mm hardened steel axles at 90deg. Don't trash the missus buggie, just buy a second handy. I got my Mp6 for free. I have a tight budget so this will be done slowly. I to have a missus that cracks it about the $$$ (rockhound has the idea) so I have also got 4 other projects on the go for mate's, so I can confuse her as to what's what. Will keep you all posted on the details as it progresses. |

Most buggie stuff (gears) are interchangeable, try kyosho or mbx stuff, this stuff is the strongest in my opinion. If you want real fun in your buggie lock the rear up. Awsome donuts. |
