| Need Screw Removal advice.
I had a screw strip out on one of my MRC Aluminum Chubs, My bro jacked it up with a drimmel and cut the head off the screw, now i cant get vise grips on it to turn it. This is a small screw thats going threw aluminum into plastic any way to remove it? Not to worried about the aluminum chub but would like to save the axle if I can.

Those housings are dirt cheap I am certain they dont make an easyout set that small. Punch your Bro in the face and make him buy you a new housing

You should be able to drill out the screw, then what's left can be broken / cleaned out. Or cut the C-hub where it meets the screw an use pliers to get it out of the axle.

if its in plastic, drill a small hole next to the screw so you have more room to "wiggle" it out, then fill the hole (parts tree pieces are good for this) then re-drill and tap. is the screw shaft to small to use a dremmel to cut a slot in it and turn out with a flathead? you could take it out to the shop and weld something to it as a handle to turn it out too? |

Probably cut the head of the screw off. Then remove the servo horn. Then you "should have enough of the screw sticking out of the servo to get a grip on it with some pliers/vicegrips, etc. The only bad is the screws that many servos use to hold the servo horn on are funky threads and kinda hard to find locally. I know at least many Hitecs are this way. I would have a spare ready before doing this method as the servo horn will not stay on obviously after cutting off the head.

Craftsman sell a Screw/bolt extractor set good for VERY small size grubs and bolts. I use them on the grubs in my Driveshafts and pinions all the time.
