| Updating the Gecko [56k warning]
Well i've found several things on the Gecko I chassis that i have that can be either upgraded or modified to make it perform better. Inspired by Jason's "project no fab"...i think i'll have my go at modding the gecko. Here is what it looked like when i first assembled it over a year ago FAR too high and short, bad tire choice, bad motor choice etc etc.... Well after having that experience for about 2 months...i decided that wasnt cutting it. So i did some things here and there to get it setup better. Here is what all i've done/modded so far. And then on to the pics

A few shots of the chassis with the new LWB 5/16" links and servos moved to the axle braces, as well as the added G2 upper plate to give me some more room for all the crap that's on-board. It sits perfectly level when the batteries are in the chassis. (rear end has a slightly higher preload than the front) A few shots of my one-off Black Novak Super Rooster and its new harness. You can see the cooling fan and supports in this shot as well. That fan is a great investment (although i'll problably NOT need it once the lathe motors are on) Now for the new body pics...these are somewhat blurry for some reason when I uploaded them, they tard'ed out... Its an HPI rubi body with a Punisher skull painted on the hood. About 90% of the paint on this body is gone after some SERIOUS bashing. Dont be fooled by the "clean" images...this was after a complete rebuild and clean. I plan on beating the shine out of it at the comp on Jan 8th. I need your opinions though...should i flat black the wheels that are on there? or leave those ones alone and bolt up the stock Maxx wheels i have and paint those flat black? Let me know what you guys think. -ML |

Wow, 8O what a transformation. Looks awesome! I say leave the wheels alone, the chome wheels really make the overall look. Maybe make some fake beadlock rings and make them black. Personally I like some chorme wheels better than just plain old black. |

But, to each his own. If yer gonna have black wheels I would say the ones that are on it would look better black than stock Maxx wheels. I like that design better. | |

I agree...the Prolines that are on there are a replica wheel anyway...Weld racing i believe. So they somewhat fit the rig. The only thing i'm unsatisfied with is the HPI rubicon body...its REALLY thin compared to the CJ-8 (hence the flexing and subsequent paint chips ) Oh well. Glad you liked it man. I cant wait to get some new action pics as soon as the bloody rain stops.

Thanks man. I cant wait to actually get it running on some terrain soon. (the cement stairs doesnt count lol). I'm definately keeping the weld wheels on there for now at least. |
