| MOA/Shafts After spending time building my Honcho JK Scaler and over $750.00 I’m loosing interest and it’s not complete yet. My interest are leaning more for a 2.2 comp rig. I see Axial XR10 MOA looks nice but wouldn’t it cost twice as much to get it running (duel motors esc etc) probably $1200.00 +/- I’m leaning towards LCC probably get it running decent for ½ that give or take… (Without any upgrades) My question is, are shaftys on the way out? Are there really any advantages or disadvantages to either? I would be interested in comps some day. |

You'll buy an extra motor and extra ESC....not double the cost.

I saw a driver with a LCC beat out a tital wave of XR10's/Bullys/Bergs at last years UT State Chamionships...MOA's are popular, but if you like shaftys, build one and drive the hell out of it!

There's no reason an XR should cost 1200 to build. You can put that much in it, but in reality, it can be extremely competitive for much less. While the LCC is a good platform and in capable hands can put down MOA's, that's due to the driver more than the rig. All things equal, MOA rules the day. I can tell you that I could run the most competitive XR in the world against Jeremy here and he could have a stock LCC and still beat me. He's a much better driver than me and takes more time to practice. I owned an LCC which has been converted to a scaler and can tell you that while it's a great rig, it simply will not do everything an XR will. I have sold my XR due to lack of interest in 2.2 comp but if I was to do it again, it would be XR for sure over LCC. |

The guys over in the creeper forum have their take on making a shafty that can hang with and beat the moa rigs. I would say the moa rig is probably an easier rig to set up for max performance. With that said, driver is totally the most important part |

That goes both ways also, The Best Driver in the world wont matter if the rig he's driving cant handle the terrain he's putting it through. |

I got into this game 2 months ago with 400 dollars wanting to buy a bog stock Losi Mini Crawler and thought I could be happy with it. Today, and just over 800 later I have an XR10 at no where near where I want it to be. Satisfaction is all different kinda grades....dont settle for second choice, do what you want, your way. |
