Default are bleeder holes in shock caps a good idea?

i've seen a number of thread were people have drilled caps to have bleeder holes. sounds as if it helps provide more consistent shock performance given the air above the diaphram in the shock has a place to go when the shock compresses.

so, before i drill holes in my new caps i wanted to see if this was something people would recommend.

I've never needed or cared for them, just one more thing to lose that tiny little screw and shocks build fine without them.
