| Overkill Link Mounts
I have been paying a lot of attention to link mount locations on the RC crawlers I have seen on this board. I also have been looking at Jason's article in RC Driver where the truck Overkill is photographed. It appears to me that the links that converge in the middle of the axle is mounted further outside the frame than the links that are mounted near the ends of the axles. For those that have seen this pics or know the truck, am I seeing this correctly? What benefits or drawbacks would this set up have?

Here's more pics that are online. http://rccrawler.com/postx1718-0-0.html The way Erick has his links forms a "W" of sorts, which helps prevent "articulation steer" or "axle steer". |

Triangulating one set of arms (i.e. upper OR lower) helps keep the axle centered and eliminate a fifth link like a track bar, which is used for the sole purpose of limiting lateral movement. There are a couple of other key elements that go into limiting rear steer in addition... Most importantly roll axis (angle).
