I run anything from .005 to 020 depending on location and how durable I want it to be

styrene is the usual second option, but tends to be used more for scalers

I use .40 myself, especially on the roof. I have used .30 on the sides. The .40 seems to hold up better and not crack as easily.

.030 Lexan is my choice. I find it a little easier to work with when cutting and or heating to mold it.

I used .040 on the first bodiless rig I just did. Tried a heat gun but didn't want to spend hours trying to coax it into bending so made straight panels. How much easier to form .030 is it?

You'd be better off with something in the .030"+ range. If you don't mind changing skins often, you can get away with something thinner, but it wears fast, and cracks easily...especially in colder weather.

I run .060 on my sides, roof and hood but when I redo them it will be .040 on the sides cause they barely get hit at all and it was a bitch to bend into shape with a heat gun but very doable. The roof and a bit of the hood get punished and 060 has held up really well here so I am sticking to it.

People are running .040" and even .060" for body panels...? Mine are like .010". They don't need to be structural. |

I am sure most everyone knew what he meant, but thanks for the clarification. As far as waiting 9 months to say something, the thread was bumped so it's fair game. Everyone has their opinions and it sounds to me you don't handle criticizm well. | |
