What's the DL on this wireless winch? Good bad? better than a wired one? do ya'll attach the key fob to yer rcvr? Either I call things different or the search feature just hates me. |

One of the better light duty options I think. Also allows those with 2 channel tx's to have a winch. I had my remote velcro'd to the bottom of my tx if thats what you mean.

| Re: RC4wd wireless winch Are you looking for a "scale" winch, or just a winch? If just a winch, it looks like most make one out of a servo. A search for "servo winch" in the electronics section will likely yield a few threads.

| Re: RC4wd wireless winch You have to consider pull ratings and what your needs are. I abused mine fairly hard and it held up quite awhile before blowing out the gears. Replacement gears are cheap as well, not sure if you can get parts for 3racing winch or not.

| Re: RC4wd wireless winch IMO I like the servo winch VS the remote winch. Most of my scalers have always had a servo for a winch. Thats my opinon though.

If your rig is 5lbs or more, be careful. They dont have a good pull weight too them, but they look cool! I had one, upgraded to a servo winch once I actually started using the winch instead of having it more for scale realism part. It was both nice, and a pain to have wireless. In a comp situation, if you have a trail buddy it was nice that you can hand the remote off too your partner and have him man the winch while you were too focus on the driving. But at the same time, you had to carry the remote with you which is the pain part. |

rule of thumb is you want your winch to be able to pull twice the weight of your truck but a snatch block will double how much you can pull |

yea I understand the characteristics of winching as I wheel 1:1. I was just trying to make it look scale "real" but if the scale ones don't work that great then it defeats the purpose. HAS any one tried using a fake winch and just run the servo wire through it; still givin the scale look but performance of a servo winch? |

Some run the winches till they burn up or break, then use them as a dummy, with the line running thru to a chassis mounted servo winch. Looks and performance |

^yes, people do this all the time. i like the idea of servo winch since they're the cheapest strongest winch, but not scale at all. I plan on keeping my rc4wd as a fake winch when mine and the replacement motor dies. if you want a scale winch that actually has lift capacity, then you gotta pay to play because those are well over $200 - Quicksand Winch, C.L.A.W. winch, etc.

I have limited room under the hood for a servo winch so I used the wired rc4wd winch. It is holding up fine (my scaler is 9+ LBS), but it has a limited pulling power. I can lower my truck down, and pull up nearly vertical faces with some motor assitance, but pulling my truck back over in a self recovery is a fail. If you buy a snatch block you double that power, and give yourself a few more recovery options. My biggest complaint about the winch was that I could not get it to center. It was always spooling out or in very slowly, but I fixed that with one of heyok's winch controlers. works like a charm now.

do the bumper winches have a free spool like a 1:1? What's the usuall length of cable? in case need a snatch block. Reckon it doesn't matter as it is easier to find something to winch onto.

Unfortunately, the only ones that have free spool are $200+ I usually use 8-10', depending on line size and spool | |

i believe the quicksand winch is the only one with free spool. line length varys depending on winch and line used |
