Default Shock setup?

Hey guys,

I have a TCS Eclipse chassis and have been trying to get the ride height set a little lower using stock axial aluminum shocks. I have limited the shocks internally but was wondering if there was any problem or disadvantage of running a shorter spring and letting the shock compress just a little and use the adjustable collar to control ride height. When the shock needs to extend the spring rides the shock shaft until the shock compresses or goes back to normal stance.

Has anyone tried this? It works great for setting height but not sure how it will work on the rocks.
