Harley's Project: Comp Cart

It has finally gotten to the point where I am getting to be a lazy bastard! I have always been more of the mindset of work smarter not harder, so time to apply that to my issue of hauling so much shit around at comps!

Fat Jesus, ASRcrawlers and myself travel to most local comps as a team and Bad Attitude joins when we hit the road for some of the long distance comps.

So tonight I went and picked up this cart. It's just a simple cheap cart, $79 at Harbor Freight and I had a 20% off coupon. So that will be my base.

Here is a list of my goals for the cart to accommodate:
Cooler
3 - 4PK cases
4-6 - 2.2 sized crawlers
Deep cycle battery in a battery box for charging

I'll probably start drawing up my ideas tomorrow. I'm open to suggestions, although I will likely ignore them :flipoff: I hope to have the fabrication done within 2 weeks.

Dimensions of a few of the items I know of at this time. I will update some of this as I get it.

Inside lip of cart - 47.75"x23.75"
Cooler - 20"x11"x14"
4PK Case - 11"x15"x8.5"

Re: Harley's Project: Comp Cart

I would make a shelf set up for the 4pk's so you can slide any one 4pk out at any time without disturbing the others. Wrap the rack in expanded metal and also slip a round bar down from the top through all the handles when in a stack and put a little padlock through the bar so everything remains secure while rollingmalongmand when not in sight.

A stacked shelf of the 4pk's would leave a lot of surface area on the base for other items too. Maybe on the top of the shelf rack for the 4pk's create a solid surface to place your RC and do repairs.

Oh ya... Just ignore my rambling...:lmao::flipoff: should be a sweet cart no matter what you do"thumbsup"

Ditch the garden wagon, get a small 3'x5' trailer to hold your gear,,,,I mean,,,,come on,,,,you need at least a 48qt cooler!! Then get you a lifted 6 person golf cart, have it skinned to match, so you can pull your trailer and crew in style!!! I mean come on,,,,,go big,,,or go home!!!

You see it would require much more to get that around to the comps. This one fits in my jeep and still hauls us three. The other idea is to modify the trailer to mount up to a receiver hitch so that it doesn't intrude on the interior space. However this would mean loading and loading some of the stuff at the comp site.

Exactly. Just using the cart as the platform.

Personally I wouldn't make the cart fit into the hitch. One little bump and it'll get tweaked all to hell or you'll rip a wheel or two off of it. Just buy a rack and strap it to it, they are 1000 times stronger.

Having a Lay-Z-Boy recliner in your shop will do that to you

Starting to work up a few layouts in CAD. A lot of the original cart may be scrapped  hopefully the new VP wheels are here by next week.

This battery is at the top of my list currently. Good capacity, good size, deep cycle, popular size. It's commonly used for golf carts.

Worked up the general layout. Decided to go to provisions for 4 - 4PK cases, 6 2.2 sized comp rigs, cooler and work surface. The battery will fit below the deck above the rear axle. The axles may get switched over to 4 link

Speaking of which, don't you need a grill for steaks?

Gas or charcoal?

There will be a 35"x11" work space above the 4PK cases.

No 110 is planned right now. Charger will be hooked up DC and I'll have a dock for my iPhone.
