| Cheap plastic rod end slop fix.
I was tired of sloppy rod ends on my TXT, LHS didn't have anything I could use in stock. So I bought some fuel line and cut a bunch of pieces about 1/16" wide. Then I slipped them over all my ball studs and put links back on. It took all the slop out and links still have full motion. I've run a handfull of packs thru my truck w/ it setup like this and it works great. |

So, you took the balls out and run the fuel tubing around the screws with the plastic rod end around the tubing? Sounds like it'd work. |

That might work too. Stock rod ends on TXT are just plastic that snap over ball studs screwed into chassis/axles. I slipped the 1/16" wide "donuts" over all ball studs, then snapped all my links back on pinching fuel line between base of ball stud and plastic rod end. Hope that makes sense. |

The TXT ballstud/ballcup design is different than a Traxxas rodend. Rodends are kinda 'built' to be one piece, where a ballcup/ballstud are 2 peices that arent meant to always stay together. They make breaking down your rig very easy, but in most cases are usually a weaker design, until you get into the sizes like those on the TXT, they're pretty massive. I dont think the fuel tubing will help much on the TRX rodends...I use them on my rig and dont really notice much slop, but it isnt that old. If you have some life into them, dirt will wear them down and being a stress point, they could start to stretch as well. Kind of a maitenance item. Last edited by mtdriver; 07-07-2006 at 10:25 AM. |

Wow - old thread. Don't get me wrong, I think it is better that people dig up old threads than start new ones. I've noticed quite a few older threads being brought back up lately - Maybe people are starting to use the search button. |

Not the best pic, but you can see the clear fuel line sandwiched between the plastic rod end and the base of the ball stud.
