| Maxstone 10 overview and tips
Hi. This is an overview of the maxstone 10 from exceed rc. First of here is a link to where you can buy it,1/10th Scale 2.4Ghz Exceed RC MaxStone 4WD Powerful Electric Remote Control Rock Crawler 100% RTR, Ok so I will now do an overview. So starting off the first thing i noticed before buying was the torque twist or TT. When I bought it i right away switched out the black springs to heavy in rear soft in front while the battery was charging. also i bought a smart charger from tenergy. I also STRONGLY suggest lipo's. Next the tranny is fairly good but if you plan it for a FOFF or basher in sand it DOES NOT fit the axial spur gear cover, i found that out the hard way lol. It does fit after hacking at it for an hour but it is not worth it. Next it the spur gear and pinion. They are 48p 87/14 (s/p) I assume they would work for just rock crawling but not for a scaler. After driving/bashing at the beach just 20 minutes they were completely stripped. So i got 2 sets of new gears (48p 87/14 and 64p 60/9) Both slow for crawling. Seemed to work just fine Now on to drive shafts. I don't hate em and i don't love em. I would get new ones if you have cash to throw around but then you wouldn't have a maxstone10. But they are good but they would break under too much pressure, i suggest MIPs. Moving on to chassis first off i will say that it doesn't have good clearance but i have a trick for that, later. But after my modification it is good. Next, moving on to the axles, They are just like the ax10's saying that I have not had any parts break in them. Okay now wheels, They are typical 2.2 beadlock wheels. They already have holes in them. And tires while were at it there are the tires. They are horrible stock, The lugs are way to close, but I have a tip for that too. Also another cool thing is it comes with rear c hubs, knuckles, and one link and turnbuckle (for 4ws you need about 2in of linkage.) Next the body. It is okay, but rollover recovery is not very good. Now electronics. esc- works so far I have tried 27t and 35t and works good receiver-Awesome! I got a 4 ch in mine. transmiter-good but only 2ch (strange) servo-slow and not very much torque (first thing i would upgrade) motor-good for crawling but slow for scaling Tips~ cut every other lug in tire turn upside down all screws in c hubs. cut foams to stars fill tranny and axles with marine grease plastic dip servos and esc cut about 1/2 inch off of bottom of chassis plates and drill new holes for skid plate take off skid guards in front and rear then sand down the bottom of axle lower battery to on top of servo and upper links in front for lower cog change tamiya plugs to deans or ultra plugs lower body and move body posts up vertically inbeed links bend rear and or front links Well I hope this helped someone, crawlerbeast Last edited by crawlerbeast; 08-04-2012 at 07:26 AM. |

Do the axial ax10 spur gear fit the maxstone 10? I have a 55t axial crawling motor and need a new spur gear |

I run brushed, for crawling it's more than enough IMO.
