Off to a good start - use as much earth and fill to get the height you need. Using just rock makes for a lot more labor.

Those are some nice rocks. It sounds funny saying that, and I keep getting weird looks anytime I say it when I see nice rocks. Let 'em look! I've been putting together a small course in my back yard for a couple weeks. Anytime I see some nice rocks laying about that don't look like someone is overly attached to them, I snag them. I've been bringing home broken up concrete too. I've pretty much taken over the old slab from where our garage used to be. I've been hauling rocks out of the river bed too. Whatever I can get you know.

DAMN SON, supposed to push the trailer with the hitch not the tail gate!

Rock pile is lookin pretty good! Nice to just go to your yard and crawl without needing to drive that's for sure.

got another load of large 200+ lbs rocks today. Buddy with his xr10 came over and re redesigned everything and made several good lines.

Quick video of the last line we made. An outside run that requires front dig to avoid backing up. I am the lead truck.

has anyone made a course by taking large blocks of foam and carving it to the desired course, then cover it with some burlap cloth and pour some stucco mix on top of it. You could do it in pallet sized sections with large casters to allow you to move and change the course up after it got old. Just seems like it would be a whole lot lighter and easier to move. I need to find a good source for the foam but I think I will do a 100' long by maybe 5' wide course along a bank in my back yard. Hopefully I wont be wasting my money.

RCP Crawlers has their portable mountain-o-foam. Here's a small vid from RCX in Long Beach, CA this year.

In order to change a course built like this, you'd need to ensure all of your transitions between sections are identical so they match up no matter where you put them. This, I think, would be limiting but not impossible.
