| How to Pede sliders..Drive Shafts
I also added this to my Stealth tranny tech. I was asked to explain how to make the drive shafts. Although it should be in here somewhere I did a quick drawing of what should be done. If you need more of an explanation just ask and I'll add it here. These are the parts used. It actually works better to use the female parts on the outside and the male as the part in the middle. The females are much less likely to twist.

Didn't mean to contradict you or anything... Just something I had read in a few other threads. |

I appreciate the addition of all info. I don't know everything or even pretend to. Just helping out when or if I can and if others can give their two cents then it will be even better.

so you put the female over the, so called male dogbone outdrive thing? it will fit if I take the splines off, then just drill a guide hole through it, put a coarse screw and chop it off at the otehr side?

You don't have to drill anything. Look at the links at the top. That is what was used for this. It's simple cut fit glue and good to go.

Instead of glueing it, I stick foam from my cut tires on both female ends. Kind of like a contraceptive sponge for that double donged middle. The benefit there is I can control how much it pushes out and more importantly it can compress down a little if need be. I've run it on 2 sets of trucks and never had one bit of trouble. |

On my truck i actually run both styles. I did them both the same the first time (doubleJ style) and did the front over again the other way (two female and 1 male slider) and i prefer the second method mostly because it looks far cleaner, and less hacked together. I doubt there is any strength gains either way since they both use the same parts and have a similar amount of spline engagement.

Or you can take 2 male end and run threaded rod into each of them to make it longer and cut yoke off.

how do you glue it? and what kind of glue are you using? if you use 2 females on the outside and a male in the middle does the foam inside the two females setup work well? or should i just glue it? thanks for the help |

so i take it that you want a sliding shaft? im new to the crawling sene, i run mostly stock xc trucks and ta02s, but want to build a crawler. i have almost everything i need, but im still stumped on the shaft problem. i know how the shaft atatches to the tranny, but what conector do you use for say tlt axles? thats the part im having trouble with.
