i tell ya, i ran my scx10 for 2 1/2 years with out ever ripping it apart. and i likes me water and mud "thumbsup" . when i finally did open it up, i was surprised to find that the trans bearings were just a lil dirty. a good soaking in a nice lube and they are as good as new,

wup, edit, i see ya said the ax2 trans, sorry about that. but if they built it like the scx10 trans you should be good to go lol

5x8 bearings in a tranny? Following Axial's biggest mistake ever instead of learning from it?

They are inside the gears right next to a 11mm bearing. Not had any issues.
