| Two stage suspension
For starters I don't know if this is the correct category, otherwise please move it. My SCX10 rig came with two-stage (small: super soft, large: medium) suspension and I find it very easy to rollover.. why was a two-stage suspension selected by Axial ? I've been searching (with no avail) the difference between a two-stage suspension and a standard suspension, can anyone point me on the right direction ? |

Axial makes a single spring for those shocks. It is the same length as the short and long one, or close. If you have the medium short try using that instead of the red. No idea why they included them, except maybe more tune-ablilty.

So you're saying to stiff the suspension in order to improve rollovers ? I really thought the other way around would help better.

stiffer springs= less body roll so less chance of roll-overs.

But if you try to approach a rock with only one of the front wheels for instance, then if the suspension is stiff it will push your car the other way instead of "absorbing the rock".. my logic is wrong ?

Lets see a pic or your rig with and without the body. Sounds like there's more then just issues with your springs. Sounds like this rig may be top heavy.

You don't want a stiff suspension in a crawler. What are you doing that makes it roll easy? You can set the preload higher by adjusting the collars down, but most likely that is not your issue.

Its been covered already but. With a crawler you want to tune the suspention pretty much opposite from a high speed race vehicle. Race applications stiffer springs and sway bars making less body roll. Crawler/trail rig softer springs no sway bar = better axle movement allowing all tires to stay on the ground more and stabilizes the main body/chassis helping to prevent rollover. Even some of the race vehicles like sct run softer springs to prevent unnecessary bouncing

I use soft long travel shocks, then realized......lower the COG with a one off lowering kit la difference. 30wt oil....1/2 up. Like where I crawl is first... Last edited by douglastee; 12-16-2012 at 01:45 PM. |

The rig is basically stock rtr. Do you think changing springs to full super soft will increase crawling capability? Sent from my Lumia 800 using Board Express |
