I have had to use a dremel to cut a strait slot and remove with a strait screw driver on tons of allen screws. Or use pliers of some sort on smaller ones that do not have the material to cut a strait slot in (example Axial beadlock screws).

Get some decent allen wrench's and you wont have this problem. It has nothing to do with the fastener, its the tool. I personally replace every single phillips head screws on my rc's, they suck.

Fact. People that bitch about rounding the heads of larger bolts are the type that use pliers or adjustable wrenches instead of box end wrenches.

Get new Allen wrenches, heck I've been using a cheaper set of integy drivers for going on a decade now and they are still rather sharp. Spend a few more dollars and relieve the headache.

If you're new to hex screws buy the regular steel ones. You'll strip the stainless ones because they are softer (in general) and strip easier. I ordered the regular steel ones but don't have them yet, so I can't confirm, but I've used a lot of screws over the years and stainless is always nice because they don't rust. Black oxide tends to be generally rust preventing and are usually made from harder steel so they don't strip as easy.

I hate 1.5mm and 2mm hex head hardware.. I'd almost prefer phillips to them.. They strip eventually and still can't apply much torque to them... Torx is far superior I only wish they were more common and cheaper.. I have some 2mm T6 head torx I use on my Axial wheels and the diff covers of my Wraith so it's a start.. Oh and I've also gone to 3mm T10 head torx on my VP wheels. Combined with a tapered torx driver I can easily see a lifetime of use without needing to worry about stripping.

Rather than cap screws, why not go with something that looks more scale/realistic?

We've started adding a bit of "scale hardware" to the store and so far are happy with the results:
Hardware
M2x7 Scale Hex Bolts
M2 Scale Acorn Nuts
4-40 Scale Acorn Nuts

We also have some VERY nice standard & specialty tools to go along with them:
Tools
Acorn Nut Driver
Scale Hex Bolt driver
Standard Hex drivers
Standard Screwdrivers

We are looking into getting more and more scale hardware and all our stuff is stainless steel. Tools are heat treated to boot.
