Maybe you could make 2 sets of tires... an RTR set and a set with the pins tightly spaced for those that like to cut their own patterns...

yeah good idea Everetty because new guys like me dont really want to cut up new tires but the seasoned comp guys might want to make their own tire patterns that they normally use.

The thought crossed my mind but that would require 2 molds...and to say a mold is expensive is an understatement.

Well maybe you could make the tire with a bunch of pins and than put a recommended cut for people that don't want to do a bunch... It's not very hard to trim out a few lugs...

That's my inclination as well. I really wanted to put about the same number of pins that the Hot Bodies Khaos Truggy Tires and then the driver can remove the pins at will to create their own pattern. It would be the first production tire using that design concept.

The tire you see in the 3D rendering has far fewer pins and is more of a RTR design.

Looking good. I think leave the cutting to the individual. But a designed cut may be a good idea to

i think the pin pattern needs to be tightened up a little. while i understand the concept of making the tire more RTR, i think the fewer lugs and larger spacing is going to hinder the custom cut patterns alot of crawlers have grown to love in other tires.

in my testing i found that a tire with more lugs seems to have a stiffer carcass. even if you snip lugs off (custom cut) you can't remove all the lug. there is a little left at the carcass. this little rubber that is left helps the tire keep its shape a little better. alot of this has to do with the compound of the rubber used in the tire, but the little nubs sorta help the full sized lugs from folding over as bad.
