Default exceed rc mad torque good/bad?

I found the mad torque 1/8th crawlers while searcing the internet and for the price they seem to be a steal. A lot of aluminum parts and its a rtr runs on nimh but if anyone knows can they run on lipo? Its a very simple set up and just woundering how the quality is and options of parts is easily available?

They are good if you never plan to get at all serious about crawling and don't want to spend any money.

Otherwise, they are crap and not at all worth screwing with. They might look good, but looking good doesn't get you up the rocks.

Max stones had plastic gears. I'm running a mad torque, they're great for the money. Most of the people here saying they're crap have never had one. They're very easy to mod and the axle gears interchange with berg v1 axles. Stock parts are hard to get, but who stays stock?
Also I'm running a 3s lipo on the stock esc with no issues.

I just bought a 1/16th scale one.

My son has a Losi Mini and we have fun on a track we make for it. Well I wanted one too to climb and play while we was.

The 1/16th Maxstone is horrible. The losi MRC makes all kinds of lines on the track. It takes some skill or patience but it will climb if you practice. Well the Maxstone just spins the tires and then on a off camber climb just slips or rolls.

So modify it to make it more stable, and cut new foams. My mad torque stock to now is incredibly different and better to wheel.

Like most Exceed rigs stay away. Crap products with little to no support for replacement parts. Save an extra $100 and get a Ridgcrest. Thousands of aftermarket products and a great entry level RC

Ive have seen people had lots of problems with gears stripping and customer support is non existing basicly I have also seen u can use some acles parts for the axles like gears knuckles and hubs. And phines fan I would get a ridgecrest if they werent so damn ugly lol I like the scorpion but axial doesmt make it anymore :(. U guys were very helpful but just the fact that customer support horrible is enough to make me not want one

The Ridgecrest and AX are 1 in the same rig. Aside from the axles and chassis, everything is practically interchangable. Aftermarket is still abundant for the AX if you dont like the Ridgecrest. Only reason I suggested that 1 was the AR60 axles are a severe upgrade over the AX1o axles

Most of the people saying they are crap have been on here for years, been doing it since before you could buy crawlers, and basicially created this hobby. But they don't know what they're talking about...

I've never owned one personally, but I've been around and run with enough of them to be terribly unimpressed.

If a person never plans to run them hard or leave their backyard with one, they are the perfect economical choice.

If you ever plan to comp, or really see what a crawler is capable of, the Exceed falls short in every way. By the time you get it modded to the level of a box stock Axial, you're already at a loss.

For those that say "they do everything I want them to do", you aren't wanting much.
