| MIL-SPEC ZXL 2.2 Tires vs. Dick Cepek Mud Country
well guys got a question. i am going to get some new 2.2's for my Bobbed Deuce. It is primarily a trail rig and i won't be using it much for comps/TTC things anymore. i dont want to get huge 5.75" tires like Pits or IRoks, because they would just be too big for this thing. they would hit all the wheel wells and just get in the way. however a smaller tire like the MIL SPEC (d.5.2")would look awesome. but not perform that great. they a harder compound. I did notice the new Dick Cepek 2.2 mud countries are pretty much the same height as the MIL SPECS, but they have the new soft compound, which would work really well. what would you vote for? looks or performance? |

I like the look of the mil spec and it suits a bobbed deuce, but if Virginia terrain is anything like Ga then I vote for mud country's.

That's a hard one! Cepeks tread depth sucks but mil-specs will be hard as rocks. Really like the bobbed deuce rig. I'd go mil-spec. |

Mil Spec! Both for the looks and for a scale realistic performance...

On that project, I'd have to vote Mil-Specs. At the time I was putting together my CUCV, I was having difficulty finding Outcroppers (which I think would have looked a lot more 'military'), so I got impatient and went with a more "civvie" tire. They're nice, I like 'em, but sometimes i still think I shoulda looked around some more and gone Outcropper. |

thank guys. yeah VA terrain is much like GA, rocks, but in between the rocks are dirt, mud, woods. i tihnk the MIL SPEC will be the tire of choice. unless i get more ideas |

Well you already know I like the mil-spec, I can't give any input on how they will work but looks wise I love them. Check out pardonmynoob's man truck, build. He's got a 6x6 with the 2.2 mil-spec tires on it. He said he liked them for that rig. --Dan |

worst case, you can always cut each thread block in half, like a sipe. it will make them work a lot better. but yeah, milspec for sure.
