tuber out of hangers

I am building my own chassis thanks to gimbal

but untill i get the tools to build it i want to build a roll cage or something like a tuber to fit the body over
im using the hpi ford 73 bronco

i stared doing this earlier today and when i got the basic layout and went to sodering it i wasnt able to

my question is whatever the clotheshangers are made out of is it possibel to soder it together?

Re: tuber out of hangers

Even if you could, it would have to be a pretty elaborate web of hangers. And it would probably bend easily in hard rollovers. Maybe for a Venom VMG?

Re: tuber out of hangers

i chose the clothe hangers cuz its easy to bend cand i alreay have it.

can i t be sodered to gether
and im also doing this as a mock up of a tuber.

Re: tuber out of hangers

weld it or braze it :D

but if your mainly doing it for mock up, just use straws ( bendable straws preferably) then just tape them or glue them together. i say the straws will hold up longer to the abuse :flipoff:

You've got tube coathangers? :flipoff:

If you're trying to solder coathanger wire together, you'll have to sand off the coating that's on them...then you might be able to silver solder them together.

You might as well just go get some 3/16" brake tubing, a MAPP torch, and some safty-silv and start a real tuber.

I tried brazing coat hangers once but just ended up with a blob of melted plastic......maybe I should have tried the metal ones. :?:

You can play with coat hangers. What works better for mockup is some thick copper electrical wire. You can bend it by hand and solder it with any decent iron.

just JB Weld the hangers together, that will work a lot better than solder, and last forever.
