Custom Crawler w/ Rustler tranny

I would like some input and advice on how to build my first crawler, keep in mind I have a complete disassembled rustler to use and am on a tight budget. Any help would be greatly appreciated. How does this sound:

Homemade aluminum Chassis
Custom 4-link Suspension
TLT-1 Axles
Rustler Tranny
Masher 2000's
Venom Racing 19t Stock Motor
Novak Explorer II ESC
Rustler Receiver
JR Racing Z270 Servo
and a couple cheapo Duratrax 1500 packs

I would get a lathe motor over the 19 turn and get a XRC esc or a water proof Mtronics w/ rev.

If you dont feel sure about coming up with your own chassis design just look around on here there are tons of thread just do a little searching.

Have fun

Sounds like a good plan just need a reverseable esc. The explorer 2 is forward only . I did the same thing good luck with crawler.

i just finished my first crawler using a stampede tranny which is the same and it is awsome. i used savage plates for my chase. http://www.rccrawler.com/postt5451.html I am still working on the driveshafts but this week i am going to make some adapters on the lathe at school. i will let u know how it works if you are interested

That's a generic list of my chassis. Get a higher turn motor, either the 55t lathe motor or the T600 from tower. Both give great torque, the t600 has more RPMS though (more wheelspin). Also, make sure to get a reverse ESC, and you may want to get some nicer batts down the road.
