| link ?..NOT how to make 'em..lol
Here it is: I just finished designing my chassis and it's awesome. One problem though, the rear upper links will end up being 1.5" shorter than the front uppers. Is this a major problem, or will it be ok? I really like the chassis and hate to start from scratch again so any possible solutions are welcome. In case it helps, the front uppers will be approx. 5-6" long and the rears 1.5 shorter as mentioned. If this will definitely not work, could I shorten the length of the rear lowers to match proportionately? Thanks in advance. |

hey rich. i'm guessing from what you described that it won't be a major problem. what that will do is create a little rotation in the axle when it moves up or down. but i think for the most part it will be ok. I wouldn't mind seeing that thing. i can swing by sometime this weekend and take a look. let me know.

Kevin, this is still just a design, if it will work, then I'll start bending today. My MS paint skills aren't great, but you get the idea. For all the nit-pickers: This is just a basic drawing of an idea, it will have more braces and be in greater detail than this. So this idea of the rear uppers being a little shorter won't be so bad? http://img20.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img20...hassis15yq.png |

Sweet. I'm glad that it won't be necessary to change it. (especially since I ordered custom batt. packs to suit the configuration...lol). Off to the machine shop I go...

i have ran my old tube chassis that way. the only problem i had was that when at full drop, the pinion angle would be so bad, it would get stuck that way( shaft driven). but i just ran a center limiting strap. as far as the front links being longer compared to the rear, you should be fine. with the front having longer links, it will flex more. but you can always change that with placement of the shocks |

Well, it is going to be a shafty. (carved up my emaxx for parts... ) So, I guess I'll just have to see how it goes and learn from my mistakes.
