Default DIY/Homemade transfer case

I am looking for some direction on building a transfer. I've tried search but only came up with a hand full of threads. The one I am looking to do is the two pinion gears sandwiched between to steel or alloy plates.

Thanks

P.S I dont have a CNC machine

May want to PM "bob1961" (I believe) since I know he has done "drill press transfer cases" before.

He is a member of GSRCRC, my local group.

You don't really need a cnc. Make it like a crawler chassis.

Clamp the 2 plates together and drill them in one go, that want all your holes line up.
Then use standoff to space it apart. About the most important thing is to make your you measure your gear centers correctly, so you maintain correct gear mesh

I've made my own tranny before, same method as above, using an axial center diff mated straight to the pinion. You could do it with two center diffs though. I used flanged bearings and instead of standoffs I made a case by stacking up styrene sheet to the proper thickness and cut out the shape I needed. Drill press was my only tool.
