Laredo Nylint 1/18 Thanks to everyone who shared their write ups to help in giving me ideas to modify my nylint. After seeing the pics if you guys see anything that could be improved or done wrong please let me know This how it all started http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02118.JPG http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02119.JPG first cut the tires and fill with 150 bb's each http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02125.JPG http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02123.JPG http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02124.JPG |
next Widening the axles by flipping the rims and flipping the tires before front http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02127.JPG after front http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02128.JPG before rear http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02129.JPG after rear http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02130.JPG |
next extending the suspension and side view of the how the wheels turned out http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02131.JPG http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02132.JPG http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02133.JPG relocating the shocks http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02136.JPG http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02138.JPG With rear axle flipped for better approach angle http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02140.JPG |
next tummy tuck pic without shocks, and i cut the top electronics cover in the front to fit the baterry pack and left the wires handy so i don't have to remove anything to recharge. also finished cutting the suspension extensions http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02143.JPG http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02144.JPG ready with shocks on http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02145.JPG http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02146.JPG so after all thse mods from the orginal pics with a cigarette box it added a nextel and a roll of tape. with out the shocks it flexes even more http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02134.JPG http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02135.JPG |
Personally, I don't like it. If you like it, more power to you, but those tires are just WAY too small. Everything else looks good. |
Its kinda got that cool swamp buggy look to it. Go beat the hell out of it! |
well i'm new at this so if you can recomend tires for it it would be greatly apprciated |
ask and you shal receive some people have been asking about the tires and wheels here go more detailed pics inner view http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02151.JPG outer view http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02153.JPG here is the chrome wheel with the little posts shaved off and hole drilled where they used to be to fit the bolts http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02154.JPG http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02155.JPG then placed back on the tire but flipped http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02156.JPG i bore some notches on the "used to be" back side of the wheel which now will be the outside added some extra washers ( i liked the look ) and bolted them down. on the rear tires you will need to bore the hole a bit larger so you can fit a socket to tighten that bolt. http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02157.JPG |
put together |
redo i didin't like the amount of flex i was getting so i redid the upper shock mounts and added a sort of body lift this added a inch more of flex than with the previous setup. rear suspension http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02165.JPG notice that there is movement on the shock mount this little movement allows alot bigger results. http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02166.JPG side view http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02167.JPG front suspension http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02169.JPG again movement for added articulation i don;t know if this will affect the vehicle negativly in the short or long run or just work fine http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02170.JPG side view of the front with pic of the bateryy relocation towards the front ( i owed this pic from the previous posts ) http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02168.JPG |
lastly last but not least the movement on the shock mounts was being interfered with the body so i put some washers wher the yellow posts insert on the chasis as a sort of body lift. this solved the problem at hand nicely with out afecting how the vehicle looks http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02171.JPG with the body on i tested the flex again and you can see and compare from the previous pics this vehicle flexed about an inch more than the last mod i did. http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02163.JPG http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02164.JPG well all that's left is to wheel it and take some pics and vid see ya soon have a nice weekend |
sorry haven't finished still looking for something around the house or office to cover up the belly after the tummy tuck |
have u tested that thing out yet? |
Test Video Didn't find anythig better but here is short video of the first test of the 1:18 Laredo Scorpion link to video |
looks like it runs pretty well |
finished the tummy tuck finally got something to cover up the open belly seems that luggage tags are the perfect width and the plastic is hard enough to do the job drilled some holes and set some nuts with epoxy resin on the sides this will fasten the lid. i also made some extra cuts on the belly sides to rest the angles so the lid will sit flush to the black plastic. http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02176.JPG http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02177.JPG http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02179.JPG http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02180.JPG here is the luggage tag cut to length and with angles set with epoxy resin and some nuts just in case i later want to fasten it with bolts. i didn't do it now because i think the bolt heads might get hung up. http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02178.JPG here is the lid placed before fastening. notice i bent the length ends up. this gives me some fore and aft movement support and clears the edge of theoretical hang ups. http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02181.JPG here it is fastened and on the desk with a ruler http://laredocp4x4.casanovaspeedshac...8/DSC02183.JPG now to get some paint to add the finishing touch |
