Default Maverick Scout with Losi Battery, RX and ESC trays

Just finished my new Jeep / Maverick Scout and found a better way to mount the battery etc. I was going to use some LiPos that I had so I was going to change the battery mount anyway. I had a spare set of Losi Comp Crawler battery, RX and ESC mounting trays and it turned out to be a real easy job to fit them.

The Losi battery and RX trays are about 10mm narrower than the Scout chassis but by using some 5mm spacers (PCB stand offs from eBay) they fit just fine. I drilled a couple of holes in the chassis side plates above where each of the upper links fit. Then simply bolted the battery and RX trays in place. When drilling the holes for the battery tray put the holes as far back as possible to allow clearance between the battery and the servo. The ESC tray needed a new mounting hole drilling and one of the existing holes elongating in order to allow the tray to fit squarely on top of the axle.

I find one small 1300mah 7.4 LiPo pack OK but there is room to put two packs on the tray for more running time. I'm temporarily using one of the RC4WD 45T crawler motors as it's a cheap way to see if a 45T motor will work OK but that'll be replaced shortly with a Tekin 45T Pro.

The Losi parts are pretty cheap so it doesn't cost much to do the mod.

More images to follow.

Interesting! You've used exactly the parts I've removed from my Losi Comp Crawler.
