older HPI shock caps from the touring cars and MT series trucks make great driveshaft rings for stampeded shafts. they thread on but i use a dab of shoe goo to keep them in place, but can be taken off if you break a shaft.

| cheap links
i have found that a really cheap way to make links and spacers is too use plastic coat hangers cut them down drill them out and us all thread to thread rod ends on them. hope this will help someone out cause not everyone has derlin just laying around

| shock cap mod
figured I would post some pics of the shock cap mod here since I didn't find it when I searched. Really simple to with a drill and vice but I used my lathe since they were the Aluminum big bores. 1st, use a dremel (or lathe) to remove the stock mounting tab as close to the top of the cap as possible then take the shock cap off and drill a hole using a #36 or #35 drill bit. (this will make it so you have to thread the screw through the cap) 2nd, thread the screw through the cap and dab a little lock-tite near the base. 3rd, screw the traxxas or what ever 3mm rod end onto the screw till its tight against the cap. Wah la, you've now gat a smooth rod end on the end of a Losi, or Traxxas shock cap. Last edited by Krakker; 10-19-2009 at 05:36 PM. |

| wheel hexs: keeping them on.
For those of you with stock or non set screw style wheel hexs, a tip for keeping them on while you work on your rig is to keep a length (or 2 or 4) of fuel tubing on hand. (about 3/4" is good.) you don't have to thread the nut on all the way, you can leave it off and just slide the tubing over the threads. Wha-La, no loose the hex now.

wire loom. You can dress up your crawlers wire job by using wire loom from a salvage yard. Most of the time you can get it for free and there's different sizes to use for different jobs. (like containing 1 wire or 2-3 sets of wire) You can also buy a spiral wire loom from wal-ma#$, in their automotive section. But, one of the CHEAP ways to contain wire is to simply use a straw. That's right, an ordinary straw cut to length and cut down the side will work as well. After you've got the wire in, just twist a bit and use a small amount of tape in a few spots or zip tie it into place. It will bend and keep your nice wires from rubbing and chaffing so they wont short out. I've said before that straws are handy, just like using the smaller coffe straws as antenna sleeves. They work and they're free from almost anywhere. |

| Material for making Panels.
Was looking for some good material to make a small, thin light weight panel for my Bastard jr. Fun Buggy project, and came across the perfect, easy to find cut-able yet tough piece.,,,,,A DVD case. They are very cheap and easy to find. Hell people will give them away as well. I made a panel just by tracing around it and could cut it out with snips, or even good cissors. You have 2 surfaces to chose from (which ever you want facing out.) I sanded up the smooth side for using servo tape on it. You can also make score lines on it and it will snap just like lexan. |

| cheap easy fix for RTR ax10
ok i got my ax10 RTR..lots of plastic junk. well the lower links would bend to the tires under torque.I simply took some 1/8" steel rod and cut them to fit the inside of the lower links and steering links and duct taped them in place. No more bending.works as good as ARTR ax10. aside from bent links. cost me almost nothing and made my RTR a drivable rig. hope this helps those with little money for a great hobby ill try and post a few picks later.

Over the weekend i picked up a set of rovers, and realized that the grey foams that it came with were not big enough so i used my venom memory foaks with the stock rover foams and it has been working fantastic.
