| good crawler for kids
just wondering if anyone had any advice/experience with a kid/kids around age 5 and buying rc crawlers for them. my twins turn 5 in December and they want a truck but I don't want to spend tons of money and I don't want super cheap stuff. I was thinking of a wheely/crawler king, maybe an rs10,Tamiya cc01, or losi mini crawler and of course they will be run on nimh batts and not fast for hopefully less broken trucks.

Vaterra slick rock is new and unproven $250, anything axial is great scx10 or Ax 10 $300..

My 4 year old son drives a slightly modified Crawler King and loves trail running with daddy. I bought his used for cheap and have done a few mods to protect parts. Plus I still enjoy driving it from time to time.

My 5 year old started with a losi micro truggy but I bought a losi mini crawler and she quickly fell in love with it. However she drove my scx10 everytime I had it out. Can't go wrong with axial though. Losi mrc is phased out and the Vaterra is a little too new to know much about.

This one might be the ticket. It's based on the Axial AX10 Ridgecrest. With some minor mods it would be a dependable rig for a youngster. Axial Racing - AX10 Fast forward to 2:12, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRVWlQnfbKM Last edited by Norton; 11-02-2013 at 05:25 PM. |

thanks for the ideas...im really leaning towards an ax10 or crawler king. I showed my boys some pictures and they like both trucks so I guess I will show them some youtube videos and see what they say.

ok my boys like just about every truck out there but I noticed they keep pointing to every bronco bodied rig more than anything else, so im thinking a tamiya cc01 bronco mostly because I would like to have that father son build/bonding time and my boys love to use tools and build things plus I think they could benefit from the experience of kit building....or should I just spend a few more bucks and get the axial dingo kit?
