| TEASER: New roof rack product(s) in the works from Torque RC
I wanted to hear from the people a bit about my latest concept. I'm working on a roof rack series. I hope to offer the same design in various sizes and proportions. This concept is 4x5.5". Very light (1.0 ounce on the dot) plastic. Looking for design suggestions and general feedback. What you like about it and what you would like to see. Price point, colors, etc. I want people to have to option to install the rack without drilling holes in their body, so there are flat sections around the screw holes where double-sided tape can be applied. My initial idea was to ship it in 5 flat panels that screw together with M1 screws, but upon handling the first concept (that's pictured below), I'm leaning against the screw-together option. |

I think it looks a lot better without the screw together option. It would probably increase the price fully assembled but it looks more scale than having screws. Just my 2 cents. Awesome work by the way! |

That's what I'm thinking. This first version wasn't screw together just because I didn't want to go through the trouble of figuring out the holes and such before I could see what it looked like assembled, and really like the assembled style. Price would actually not be any different (as far as manufacturing goes). If anything it would be the same less screw costs.

Revised version is done. Slightly more refined and .2 ounces lighter (now at .8 ounces). Looking to get the photos tomorrow and get it up ASAP. EDIT: Last edited by tycoonman; 11-08-2013 at 09:53 AM. |
