Would it take Wraith lockouts in the rear to get the same width?
Reason I ask is I have a request for rear Ti axle shafts to match the front new tube width. TIA,
Bob

Sorry for the delay, If your wanting equal track width, a set of burly tubes in back is required along with wraith lockouts and XR10 rear long shafts, there are several vendors who can cut you 2 long XR10 Shafts. If you are using these for a sporty with a flat faced wheel, you can easily flip the wheel for equal track width.

I am working on an option for you stock width guys, and hope to have a how-to up by the end of the week.

Alright, for those guys wanting a 7075 burly tube but want to retain your stock width, here's what you need to do.

First cut 12mm off your burly tube.

Then cut your axle halves flush with the link mounts. At this point your burly tube fits right in.

You will still need to drill and tap the burly tube, but now you have a killer burly tube upgrade.

As a newbie I'm curious if this is a bolt on (replacement) item. I think I want these because I want a solid wraith build.

I don't want to sounds pessimistic but, if I'm building from scratch, is there a benefit from going this route over using AR60 axles?

Price is about the same for these as an AR60 axle

If this makes sense, I'll surely go this route with AX/SCX axles

It's all about the width..

You know can achieve the steering of AR60 with AX10 cases.

In an organized comp, the gate markers are to be set up a specific distance apart.

AR-60 axles are significantly wider than AX/SCX axles.
Add on knuckle weights, and when your wheels get snagged on those, add in wide hubs to get your wheels out, and those axles can get downright unwieldy.

Some drivers like using the AX/SCX housings to keep their axles nice and narrow, so they can barge through tight gates. But then they still want to get the crazy steering angle of XR knuckles. These tubes accomplish both goals.

If you don't care much about your width, AR-60's might be a viable option for you. For those of us for whom width is an issue, we'll keep using adapter tubes.

NOW I understand! Thank you so much for making me feel like a newbie again - LOL! Always good to learn new tricks. I am in the process of rebuilding and I am considering another shafty - this may find its way into my axles sooner rather than later

Thanks Trubble and thanks RCBro

Sorry for the delay, looks like the answer has already been touched, but i'll go a step further.

You can run a universal setup on a stock width AX10 axle, but you must hand cut and flatten the shafts with a dremel. However, because your axle is so narrow, your tires interfere with nearly everything so you can't make use of the sharp steering.

The cure is to widen the axle to competition with similar to an axial XR10. This way the XR10 universals used do not need any modifications and you have room to fully use the available tight steering. To top it off, we give you a machined splined end and little mods to the axle halves needed to complete the process.

The reason alot don't want to use a wraith axle is because its much wider then an XR10, but also the offset pumpkin makes suspension geometry matched with proper steering a challenge thats hard to overcome.
